Every year Betsy seems to come up with a wild idea for a Halloween costume. This year, after visiting the Civil War reenactment in Jackson, she decided she wanted to be a Civil War cannon. The construction team of her parents, God-parents and good friend Susan Harris proceeded undaunted and produced the following masterpiece.

| Betsy's Civil War cannon, nicknamed "Wasp Nest". | Union cap courtesy her godfather, Tom Nanzig. |

| Betsy and Mommy with Mommy's early birthday present. | Betsy with Emma (back) and Sarah Hills, two friends from Emerson. |

| Betsy with Matthew Cook her teacher, appropriately dressed as Abe Lincoln! | Betsy and her godfather, Tom Nanzig, dressed for the occasion. |

| Sixty percent of the cannon building crew, (from left) Barb Nanzig, Tom Nanzig and Susan Harris, plus of course the cannon herself! |
